This is too awesome for words. Apparently there is a UK band called "sleepercurve." From their myspace page:
Named after the term used by US science writer Steven Johnson to describe the idea of popular culture being beneficial to an individual’s cognitive development, this new south London-based trio have single handedly invented the genre of ‘dystopian space rock’ - taking influences that range from contemporary bands like Interpol, Elbow and Biffy Clyro to classic pop and alt-rock such as Depeche Mode, Soundgarden and the Smashing Pumpkins, the end result is dark, expansive and often abrasive – yet also accessible, with groove-laden songs like ‘Suffer in Silence’ and ‘Vultures’, geared as much towards moving your feet as engaging your brain.
Sure, they may be name-checked more on conference panels, but I don't see any new bands called "tippingpoint," "longtail," or "wisdomofcrowds" out there -- particularly dystopian space rock bands...
Hey,
I hope you can see this Steven.
We can not find your contact info and we would like to have you on the show to do a radio interview. If you can email me at mike.martin@worldtalklive.com to discuss dates and times and to talk more bout the show, that would be great! Thanks!
Sincerly,
Michael Martin
