From a new interview in the Seattle Times with William Gibson:
Q. What books have you read lately that you can recommend?
"The Ghost Map" by Steven Johnson, about a London cholera epidemic.
I still get a little thrill when I hear that people like William Gibson are actually taking the time to sit around and read one of my books. I mean, Neuromancer was on my orals reading list when I was in grad school at Columbia. Now if I can just get Pynchon to plug Everything Bad I can die happy.
Steven, I think I remember reading in one of the obituaries for Bergman that he was a big fan of all your books. Or was it Antonioni?

I *devoured* 'Neuromancer', first time round. One of those novels that have left a small hole in my memory, indicating I was entirely on autopilot for half a day.
...
You're right, it's very cool. :)

Fitz--I personally was MUCH more impressed to see you in Zander's copy of "Muse" a couple of months ago. Excerpted in a highbrow kids magazine--that's when you know you've really made it. I'm not kidding. Zander was first dubious, then astonished when I told him (after he'd read the article and said, "Mom, this is so cool, you've got to check this out") that I knew you....
Always a thrill to surprise one's preternaturally cynical 11 year old with one's college chums....

If I'm not experiencing some kind of senior moment, which--admittedly--is highly possible, he also mentioned this in a one-page profile in The New York Times magazine recently - I thought of you when I read that in the Times - congratulations. Very cool, indeed!
