Amazing story about how the Bush Administration won't remove a creationist account of the Grand Canyon from the Park Service bookstore there. (It turns out the Grand Canyon may have been created by Noah's Flood. Who knew?) But I just love this line:

Yes, I like the bit in the story where it says that the Park Service is "claiming that park bookstores are like libraries, where the broadest range of views are displayed."

Mmm.. I'm going to write a book saying that grizzly bears are cuddly, and *must* be stroked so you can get the best out of your time among the wildlife. And that the canyon is actually made of cheese, but only at the middle, if you climb up unroped. Let's see if they'll sell *that* sucker.

I loved the 'Satan's nostrils' line myself ... yet the thing that's the most shocking to me about this story is that government agencies are allowed to ignore the evidence and protests from their own scientists. I mention this in 'Intervention,' regarding the FDA's original approval of transgenic food in the early 1990's, but it's really commonplace throughout all the U.S. agencies. Gack.
