Nice to see Brownstoner, one of my very favorite sites, make an appearance in Talk of the Town. But isn't this quote a little odd, given the usage mavens at The New Yorker?
The group had its own vernacular, sprinkled with terms like "pocket door," "parquet,"... and the verb "to rehab" (as in, "I bought a single-family house from a Louisiana minister. There were illegal tenants, one of whom died in contract. And then I rehabbed it").
Is "rehab" as a verb really all that exotic? I know I'm a brownstone rehabber myself, but still...
Some of my closest friends have been rehabbed...
