A few odds and ends to report. First, I'm going to be moderating what should be a very interesting conversation -- co-sponsored by Wired -- between cyber-law superhero Larry Lessig and alt-country superhero Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) at the New York Public Library on April 7th. The topic: "Who Owns Culture?" Should be a lot of fun, and despite being up on stage with Tweedy, I promise not to sing. If you're in the NYC area and want to come, you should order tickets since this will sell out quickly, I suspect.
Secondly, we have an official title for Everything Bad Is Good For You. It's "How Today's Popular Culture Is Actually Making Us Smarter." Much more to say in the coming weeks about the book, all of which is quite exciting. It comes out on May 5th, though there are some encouraging signs of early interest in the argument, including this article from the Boston Globe that has a nice shout-out to the book.
Finally, check out the new cover for the paperback for Mind Wide Open, also coming out in early May, along with a new edition of Emergence. Cool, huh?

Yes, Cool, Excellent new cover for Mind Wide Open, however I already own 2 versions of the book, the original and audio. Speaking of the audio version, have you considered doing one yourself? I've heard you on NPR and you could do it if you can fit it in your busy schedule. With your writing style, it almost asks for you- to read for the audio version.
I look foward to the new book. I'm currently reading Emergence and Mind Hacks.

Hi, all:
Steven, I just wanted to let you know about a new exhibition we created, funded by the National Science Foundation and others, called Connections, the Nature of Networks. It focuses on emergence, social networks, and other broad ranging aspects of networks. The exhibits are interactive, created by designers and artists throughout the world. It is a permanent installation at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. I'd like to invite you out to see it sometime, just 20 minutes from midtown on the 7 train. FWIW, Emergence, along with Nexus, Sync, Small Things Loosely Joined, were the key intellectual influences.
And all the rest of you readers of this site are more than welcome as well!
Best Regards:
Eric Siegel

Could you describe how you've journeyed from each topic from your last three books? What are the connections between the three?

Steven, by "new edition of Emergence", do you mean an updated version, or a new printing?
Looking forward to picking up MWO in paperback. :)

I really enjoyed reading an article on the birth of online slots, and I followed to experience online slots http://online-games.port5.com/online-slots.html online slots live. When will we cease from playing online slots? I guess never.
