Thanks to everyone who wrote in with good wishes about our house closing yesterday -- I'm happy to report that we are in possession of a 100-year-old brownstone right off of Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It needs quite a bit of work, but we're pretty thrilled. Anyone who has ever lived in New York City will understand that the most amazing thing right now is contemplating the idea that we own something with 1) a backyard, and 2) a basement. I may actually have to learn how to use power tools without injuring myself just to live up to this new space. You can click here for a picture of the front if you're so inclined.
Amazing home. Congratulations! Just remember, www.bobvila.com. The site has saved many of us.

Wow, gorgeous house. Bay windows! I may be emailing you for realtor advice when we relocate to NYC from Tokyo early next year...
Congratulations from one who's been there,
A.

Thanks, folks. We're pretty excited -- still a ton of work to do (new electricity, plumbing, kitchen, etc.) But it'll be pretty great when we finally move in...

Picked up your blog from daypop I think it was. I hail from London but I lived in NJ for a while anywayz, seeing as you live in Brookyln and have just bought a house there I was just looking at the area on the web and found this which you might find useful since you live in the neighborhood :
